We had a great 2 hour tour with Otto on the Manatee Kayaking Tour. We saw many beautiful Manatee; it was great being so close and seeing them in their natural habitat. Otto was fantastic and also pointed out other wildlife - a was a font of knowledge of the area and a great guide. At the end, we even saw 3 Dolphin swim past. We highly recommend this experience - especially if you want a break from the parks.

We were lucky to have Sandy as our guide for this amazing experience. He was a mine of information, enthusiasm and fun. The site for the launch is not easy to find so make sure you follow the detailed instructions emailed out in advance. After the obligatory safety briefing you are quickly out on the water with an abundance of wildlife and beautiful scenery all around you. The number of ospreys, vultures and cranes etc in the river was unexpectedly high (at least to us!). When we got to the manatee nursery (a short distance up the river) there were a large number of young who are attracted to the kayaks. Whilst the river is naturally cloudy the manatees often emerge to interact and investigate. We spent most of our time watching these gentle giants in wonder. Our trip was briefly interuppted by a storm but were were quickly back on the water and explored a beach just round the headland. This is where Sandy’s knowledge came into its own and he gave a fascinating overview of the rich eco-system. We’d thoroughly recommend BK Adventures and this day out to anyone; even those, like us, who were novice kayakers

Our tour guide Otto was great! We have five adults and an 18 month old in our group, so we took out 1 single and two double seat kayaks. We showed up early and Otto was ready for us, with boats in the water and a place for us to stash our car keys. He even supplied two of our water bottles (a must bring on this trip) for one of our group who drank theirs on the way out and one who forgot their bottle. We went over good paddling technique, threw on life jackets, and hit the water. Our first stop was a cool little cove that had a whole herd of manatees. It was so awesome! They come right up to your boat so you can just chill and enjoy them being playful. I was with my wife and kiddo in one of the double kayaks. We had three manatees swim all around us and move our boat around. It was very neat. They were gentle and friendly. From there we headed out a bit further into some fresh water and checked out another group. The couple in the other double kayak got to see some calfs. We paddled back to the cove and played with the first group again for a bit and then continued on to the spot we started from. On our way back we got to check out a dolphin. We also saw some neat birds and crabs. After our tour we hung out for a bit and swam right off the shore. The water was perfect and our guide even hung out with us for a few minutes and told us some more about the wildlife and the bioluminescent tours. It sounds like a blast. If we’re ever back in Florida we’ll be checking that out for sure!
