I went on the Downtown Charleston Culinary Tour over Christmas vacation with several of my family members and we all had the best time! We visited four restaurants: Eli’s Table where we had AMAZING fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese (my favorite), chicken and waffles and delicious shrimp and grits. A LOT of food that got the tour off to an amazing start. The second stop was at The Blind Tiger where we had baked oysters, delicious mac and cheese and a charcuterie plate. Again, TONS of food that was all delicious. The weather was nice so we also went outside on the patio after which was lovely. The third restaurant, The Establishment, was a nice contrast to the first two restaurants with more fine dining including steak tartare, poached shrimp and a light and fresh salad. All was delicious and a great palate cleanser. The last stop for dessert was at Carmella’s. We had a hearty slice of delicious chocolate cake. A perfect last stop to cap off the tour. I can’t say enough good things about our experience, including our charismatic tour guide, Guilds Hollowell, a Charleston native. I would recommend this tour to anyone who loves food and is looking for a unique and fun way to spend an afternoon in a beautiful city.
