My recent experience with the excursion organized by Miami Double Decker was disappointing to say the least.
The trip began with a roughly 50-minute ride to Sawgrass Recreation Park in a double-decker with no working air conditioning, while the temperature outside was a whopping 34 degrees. This ride was an absolute hell.
The driver did not speak English and used Google Translate to get his message across, creating a chaotic and unclear communication.
Once we arrived at Sawgrass Recreation Park, we were divided into groups for the airboat tour. While sailing on an airboat is an interesting experience in itself, the highlight of the excursion – spotting alligators and other wildlife – was deeply disappointing. In a journey of about 30 minutes we only saw one alligator.
After the short airboat tour we had to wait another 50 minutes for the rest of the group before we could leave. And then began the hellish journey back in the red-hot bus without air conditioning. To make matters worse, we also ended up in traffic jams, making the return journey even longer.
All in all, this excursion was a great disappointment. A boat trip in a protected area where you hardly see animals and then have to spend hours in uncomfortable conditions. This is definitely not recommended.
