Not what we expected traveling with 3 kids. Trip Advisor really let us down. This trip consisted of 6+ hours (out of 10 hours) in a cramped van with a tour guide who was not motivating. The boat ride in the Everglades was good with an excellent captain. We then proceeded to drive an hour away to a lake for an airboat ride when we could have done an airboat ride in the Everglades and saved an hour of driving. The one mile walking tour was reduced to about a 1/4 mile for no apparent reason. Our travel guide was hard to follow and made many u-turns to backtrack repeatedly. I would definitely just drive to Everglade City next time and buy the tours myself. Would have saved several hours. Lastly, the price we paid on Trip Advisor was $15 each more expensive than if we would have went directly to the website.

Thank you for the feedback. With 2 very young kids (5 & 7) a 10-hour tour can be a long day. We offer the Captain Bob's Excellent Adventure and the Western Everglades Adventure through our website and those two tours are shorter and cater to families with young children. Your guide described your 3 kids as bright, engaged and perceived that they had a great time. For safety and logistics reasons I have GPS trackers on my vehicles. I can tell how long they have been stopped and in motion throughout the day. On the day of your tour the van was in motion for a total of 4 hours and 15 minutes. It takes an hour and 15 minutes to get to the Everglades and hour to return and a portion of the tour is a wildlife drive in Big Cypress National Preserve. Yes we drive! This is the dry season so the guide will go where the water is and that's in the canals of the preserve. Many of those roads are 15-20 miles long and the guides will stop and turn back at certain points. All part of exploring. As far as the walk - it takes place in the Ten Thousand Island National Wildlife Refuge. We walk 1/2 mile out and half a mile back. It's a mile. My GPS tracking shows that the tour stopped at the trail for 1 hour and nine minutes. The walk was not 1/4 of a mile. TripAdvisor resells tours. They charge more than I charge. You can't hold that against me. Ultimately it sounds like you took your young family to a PG-13 movie and a G movie might have been more appropriate. For that I am sorry because I know you would have had a great time on one of my shorter tours.

Our tour guide Pete was phenomenal! My 15-year-old son that I did the half day excursion, including Birdwatching and a hike in the morning, followed by a Airboat ride - where we saw no less than 60 alligators. And then they topped it off with an exhibit being able to hold some snakes and a live alligator. it was a blast and great for everyone for all ages.
