I originally planned to scuba dive on Kona but unfortunately had to cancel my dive plans last minute due to medical reasons. Not wanting to miss out on the fantastic reefs of Kona, I sought out some snorkelling tours instead. Initially I was a little overwhelmed with the number of tours available on the island, but once I found this tour from SeaQuest I knew it was the right one for me. You spend more time on and in the water than any other tour I could find, and get to see more of the coast and cool sea cliffs and volcanic features. The tour is very well planned so that at each snorkelling spot it’s not too busy- at our first two stops we were the only boat on the water, and at our last stop (Captain Cook monument) there was only one other boat. The conditions for snorkelling were great at all 3 stops, the different reefs were all beautiful, unique, and teeming with life (I even spotted a turtle!). The boat itself is probably the nicest RIB I’ve been on, and the staff had everything you could need on board including snorkelling gear and plentiful food and drink. If you’re an ocean enthusiast like me you’ll love this tour!

My husband and I absolutely loved the South Kona morning snorkel expedition. It was our first time snorkeling, and on top of that I am a very beginner swimmer (my husband is an experienced swimmer). I was afraid of jumping in from the boat. Adam graciously offered to gently lower me down, which was so incredibly helpful. At the very first snorkel spot, as soon as he lowered me down and I looked inside, I absolutely freaked out at the depth and panicked. I cannot describe how thoughtful and gentle Adam was with me - he held on, calmed me down in a very non-condescending way, moved me closer to the ladder and asked me to take my time and let go only when I felt ready. He did not make me feel embarrassed or conscious, and I stood there trying to breathe easy and gently put my head into the water. It took me about 5 mins but I felt good enough to let go and join my husband. I loved how both Adam and our captain Jill cheered me on and encouraged me as I went on about snorkeling. At the other spots too Adam gently lowered me down each time, while I became more and more comfortable snorkeling. Its also worth mentioning that my husband got pretty sea sick at one point, and Adam and Jill were super supportive. They offered him ginger ale as well and checked in on him often until he felt better. The snorkeling spots themselves were wonderful, and we both are now addicted to it and wanna do more of it. But really, the trip was that much better only thanks to the crew. Thanks a million to them!! Highly recommend sea quest - you can book your snorkel tours with them without any hesitation!

The entire trip was great. The all female crew was knowledgeable and professional. The snorkeling gear was clean and in good shape, and the snorkel experience was fantastic. We had some overcast, so I was very glad that I had rented the zip-up wetsuit top, which was also clean and in good shape. We've snorkeled off other Hawaiian islands, Mexico, and the Florida Keys. This was by far the best experience overall.
