Our experience offers a showcase of what grows on Kauai in our regenerative food forest: A collection of exotic and delicious foods brought to Hawai`i from all corners of the globe. Coffee, pineapple, tree tomato, kava, mamak'i, heart of palm, papaya, bananas, and more! More importantly it demonstrates a model for how food can be grown in harmony with nature, planted in concert so there is no need for imported fertilizers and pesticides. The tour concludes with a family style meal to savor and enjoy while celebrating the delicious diversity that exists on Kauai all while exploring our mission here at Common Ground. 100% Island sourced because it should be, from the cooking oil to the seasonings. Lovely farm tour despite torrential rain. Not a great experience for young, inattentive children, however, but our hosts were kind to give us some crayons/paper to keep a 5-year-old occupied during the informational parts of the tour. If it's raining, be prepared to have completely wet shoes. Our meal was lovely and rather unique, but I wish there had been more of some of the fruits offered. Chicken was sufficient for the five year old, but I would not take a very picky eater on this tour again. Great for those interested in trying new flavors/experiences and an interest in food production.

Our visit to Common Ground was a highlight of our time in Kauai. The farm tour was super interesting/informative and the meal that followed was absolutely delicious - lamb & veggie stew plus homemade lemonade! It was also very fun to try so many different types of fruits, and I swear the best tangelo of my life was there. I'd also recommend getting there early to do the walk down to the stone dam, which was beautiful though a little muddy in spots.

While the backbone of Common Ground is the Farm Tour and educating people about the potential for food security and sustainable farming ..... the relaxed outdoor dining at the "Lounge Night" is a transformative island experience curated by top chefs and the freshest foods from the island.
