Enjoy an adventurous winter activity during your time in Fairbanks. On this snowmobile tour, your guide will show you how to operate the snowmobile before leading you out to your adventure, through a true winter wonderland, exploring the frozen rivers, lakes and snow-covered mountains around the Chena Lakes recreation area outside of North Pole.

It is very important that you arrive 30 minutes before your tour time for your safety briefing and gear check to avoid inconveniencing other tours running throughout the day. If you are more than 15 minutes late for your safety briefing, you will forfeit your tour and no refunds will be given. Tours cannot be rescheduled.

If you are using a GPS, do NOT take Conifer Drive. Take Nelson Road only. Allow 45 minutes travel time from Fairbanks.

Not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries

Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
Tours are subject to change due weather conditions or lack of snow.
Minimum driving age is 18 with a valid driving license. Ages from 7 to 17 may ride as a passenger only.
Children age 6 and younger are not allowed
Driving time will be around 60 minutes. Safety briefing and fitting of the helmets etc. will be approximately 25 minutes extra, so you must arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled start time.
Optional upgrade to 2 hours is possible pending resources. (Please call office direct).

I had never been on a snowmachine, and, if I'm being honest, I wasn't sure I was going to like it when we first set off. Being on the road or the too-packed snow felt stiff and jerky. Once we got to the powder tho, whooo-boy! It was so freaking fun! Kathy and Chase were the best guides. They let us do what we wanted; didn't tell us to follow them or slow down, not even when we launched ourselves off our machines going over a berm too fast! They zipped right over and helped us right our machines or got us unstuck. It was great. We did the 2-hour tour and even though my muscles were fatigued by the end, I could've easily done another 2. I also appreciate that there wasn't a set route. Kathy told us we were the first 2-hour of the season so they didn't have a routine yet, we just played it by ear and decided on the fly where to go. I told her in passing I hoped to see a moose and she tried her best to find me one. No luck on the tour, but I did end up seeing a few during my time in Alaska so all was good. This tour immediately made me jealous I don't live in the snow, but it's probably better that way. If I get a $20k snowmachine then my husband's going to want to get one... It would be a whole thing. I absolutely recommend and 'll definitely come back if I ever make it to Fairbanks again.

Thank you for your review and choosing Alaska Wildlife Guide for your Snowmachine adventure! The machines take a min getting used to, and the packed snow on the road is slow going, but once you hit the trails, it's GO TIME! Also...We vote your husband buys you matching snow machines!
