The water was a little choppy. A few people told me that, and I didn't know what that meant until I got in the water. I had been to the beach before, but never went that deep. I only went out about a middle of the way (and other people were out further), but the water was pushing me around. Some people were able to stand still at the shallower depths, but I needed to do small hand movements (in the water) to stay stable, and in one spot. I started out clumsy, especially since I rented fins, but I was able to coordinate myself a little to change the direction I was facing (head on) to brace, and/or, adapt to incoming waves. I started out with hand movements and eventually got coordinated with the long fins (I mostly walked and planted my feet a certain way, and that took a while. I was able to tread water and swim short distances after a while. Short distances because my calf muscles would cramp up very briefly because I had not been swimming in a long, long time.). Anyway, I had fun, and will do it again after I take a break from all that physical exertion.
