On the one hand this was an amazing tour around some of the Canyon's Southern high points, experiencing the best nature has to offer as the hues altered with the setting sun.
On the other, the day was seriously marred by a guide who at best could be described as eccentric but at worst could lead you to seriously question how he could actually be employed by the tour operator.
His talkative nature has been alluded to in other reviews but the essentially aggressive nature in which he tried to draw the visitors into his web, followed by an almost non-stop verbal barrage of the useful, the bizarre and the irrelevant is troubling. I have 2 hours of (highlight) recording on my phone which I only stopped when another traveller implored "Can we just have 5 minutes quiet please. Just 5 minutes...please."
There was also a general petulance to his manner when some people refused to dance to his every beat and in parts he was borderline rude or offensive.
All of this is a shame as there is no doubt that he does have a wealth of knowledge about the area, although at this particular point in time he isn't capable of imparting that reasonably. Maybe he blows high and low? He was also very helpful to everyone when the time to take pictures came and I have no doubt everyone's permanent records of the event will have been enhanced by the assistance he was able to offer.
I could go on at much greater length about his other eccentricities but it seems unnecessary. In the likely event that the tour company read these reviews, they must surely know who I am talking about and I would implore them to think about this. I cannot be the only person to have brought this up (6 of 8 passengers in our vehicle are in agreement and I suspect the other 2 are just polite) and maybe they should canvas opinion from other recent tours. I'm more than happy to pass on my audio record to confirm the situation should they respond to this review asking for it.
