The tour around Harlem is relatively poor. Good info provided by the guide but nothing you can do by your own The church moment was nice Beautiful choir but the church was packed with foreign tourists (I have estimated 90% of the people in the church) Nothing is offered that you cannot do yourself and indeed choosing a church independently as I did years ago will allow you to better experience the atmosphere of local participation in mass instead of being in a church where 90% of the people present are tourists

Regarding the church, it is a historically Black congregation known for its uplifting music and warm, welcoming atmosphere, particularly toward international guests. While the music and community spirit are wonderful, it’s important to note that the church’s primary focus is worship and sharing the gospel, rather than serving as a form of entertainment. This church has a rich history spanning over 100 years and plays a vital role in supporting various community programs. We also appreciate your recognition of the tour guide’s efforts to provide informative commentary. While this is not a ""hidden history"" tour of Harlem, it is designed to highlight the area’s cultural heritage, particularly in the context of gospel music.
