Frieda led a wonderfully informative and warm tour. I think it's so special that Frieda is doing this, because without her, this opportunity to learn more about the Satmar community in such a nuanced, personal, and immediate way might not exist at all. I loved that we learned as we walked - Frieda points out small, everyday parts of the neighborhood and creates learning moments out of them. She is very open to questions and encouraged us to reflect on our own thoughts and reactions, too. After the tour, Frieda sent around a list of books, films, etc. that we should check out for a deeper understanding of Hasidim, including her own thoughtful commentary about each piece. I can't wait to spend quality time with what is essentially a fantastic curated syllabus, and continue my learning on my own. Thank you, Frieda! You are truly doing a good thing.

Frieda is sparkling, engaging, intelligent and articulate. She was at once able to fold us in to the extreme beauty and extreme repression of this community. She invites you into her personal story from the very first moments by sharing the photo of her as a youngster with her 14 siblings. It is clear that she holds great affection for the community which also caused her great pain. She is strong and brave to make her own life path and to share it with others through this tour! Thank you, Frieda! Also from a logistical POV, the audio system she uses makes the tour smooth and easy on busy streets where we were trying not to stick out like a bunch of tourists! The information she shares afterwards provides even more insight and emotion to her journey. Don't miss it. Strongly recommend this experience with Frieda.

We loved our tour with Frieda... she is so knowledgable and open to sharing her insights into this fascinating community. I especially appreciated her desire to provide us with the facts so that we can learn, rather than jump to conclusions. She is warm, honest, intelligent and friendly. This is an afternoon we won't ever forget.
