Took part in a small group hike in a private preserve up 6000 feet elevation to the summit, we were able to see different geology/landscapes, craters & fishers. Garry our guide was full of knowledge & provided Hawaiian folklore. The company provides hiking sticks, extra water, snack, sun screen & light jackets; you must wear good hiking shoes. The weather & terrain changes at a moment’s notice your hiking very warm lava trails, next the damp fog rolls in & your hiking in damp mud forests covered in trees & ferns. We loved it & the wild berries were delicious. I don’t believe any visitors can experience this great trail anywhere else.
