The staff met us on time at the said location. Unfortunately, they had bad news for us. Our excursion was canceled due to bad weather. We were so disappointed because this was the excursion we were looking forward to the most. The staff left and we were trying to figure out a plan "B".
Within roughly 15 minutes, they called us back to see if we could do it at a later time; the weather was clearing. We said yes, and around 12:30 they were back to pick us up.
After a short passenger briefing video, they got us the boot covers we needed. We were then led out to the helicopter and met our pilot, Ben. They made sure we were all safely belted in and had hearing protection. Once we were all set, Ben began our ascent to take us to the glacier where we would be dogsledding.
Upon our arrival, the staff there greeted us and talked briefly about the dogs and the camp there. Then they assigned us a musher and introduced us to the dogs. Off we went. It was amazing! We all took turns in different seats and standing on the back of the sled (simulating mushing). After we were finished, we got to visit with the dogs and even hold the resident puppy. They then packaged us up and off we went with Ben to land on another glacier.
Words cannot describe the beauty, tranquilness and smell of the glacier. The turquoise pools in the ice were incredible. We even drank water from one. It was the purest water I've ever tasted. After approx. 20 minutes,it was time to head back to base. Ben pointed out things along the way.
Simply can't say enough about the professionalism and safety of the staff. The excursion was outstanding and created memories for a life time.
