My brother and I did a shore dive with Steven as our dive master. He had us fitted for gear inc wetsuits in 10 mins and away we went. We had completed their online waivers so no delay for paperwork. Dive was great! Long bridge rubble turned reef, good coral, fish, lots of sea turtles, saw a black tip shark. Highly recommended!

My husband and I did 4 dives with Johnny in February. Prior to this trip the last time I went diving I almost blew out an eardrum and ended up in the ER in Mexico, so I was a little nervous getting back into the water. For that reason I was really glad we were doing shore dives. Our first dives were on Tuesday, Feb 11th. It had rained all day & night on Monday, so conditions were not very good at any of the usual dive sites, with only Airport Beach really being the only option. The wave action was fairly strong when we went in for our first dive and very limited visibility, but once we dropped down the vis improved dramatically. There weren't a ton of fish, but we did see a couple of turtles (including a Hawksbill) and eels. When we were exiting the water after our first dive the wave action had really picked up and I got body slammed into the beach and got a free exfoliation! On our second dive, we saw a lot of the same things we saw on the first dive. My mask kept leaking during the second dive (it turns out that it got cracked when I got body slammed) so I spent most of the second dive clearing my mask, so not the best dive. But overall, it was great to be back in the water and not have any ear problems. Originally we were only going to dive on Tuesday, but decided to add another day of diving to our trip. We went again on Friday with Johnny. We met about 6:45 at Extended Horizons and carpooled over to Black Rock. Dropped our stuff, parked and then hiked back to our gear. What a difference a couple of days made in conditions! There was almost no wave action at all - we were able to wade right in and drop down. This was more of a drift dive, but Johnny took it nice and slow so we could stop and look at all the marine life that was out and about. He told us that we'd probably see schools of fish, and that he'd have us go ahead of him at times so that we could swim through and have them part around us. During the dive we ran into 4 or 5 huge schools of fish - it was absolutely amazing! We also saw turtles and a barracuda. But perhaps the most amazing thing we saw on this dive were Yellowfin Tuna. I saw two huge fish when we were in maybe 20 feet of water and Johnny pulled out his board and wrote "Yellowfin Tuna!!!". After we got out he said that between the schooling fish that were acting a little odd and the tuna he figured there was either a shark or a monk seal a bit further out. Next up was Mala Pier. This entry was a little harder since rather than having a nice sandy surface to walk out on, the ocean floor is covered with rocks. We walked out probably 75-100 yards before we put on our flippers and started kicking out to a place where we were deep enough to drop down. Mala Pier is a turtle cleaning station and I lost count of turtles after seeing at least 20. I also got to watch turtles getting "cleaned" and a turtle being chased away from eggs by a fish. Other highlights were 2 white tip reef sharks, 2 nurse sharks, nudibranchs, and a couple of great eels. I can't say enough great things about Extended Horizons and Johnny. Johnny really knows his stuff - by our last dive, before he'd ask me how much air I had left, he'd tell me what he though I had left and he was right every time. We were tempted to add another day of diving but decided that instead we'll just need to make another trip in June and do a bunch more dives!

We did a 2 tank shore dive at airport beach and a few days later did a twilight and night dive at Black Rock. Followed by a two tank boat dive to Lani Cathedral. The crew was amazing. Took great care of us and our gear. All made sure we got to see what we wanted. Were safe and had fun. I highly recommend this group. Will definately dive with them if/when I make it back to Maui.
