Such a relaxing and beautiful tour! Sugar Shan was a great guide- he had lots of information about the lake, glacier, city advice, and even told us about local legends/folklore. He was knowledgeable and so super funny! His laugh is really infectious! You can tell he really loves this job, and Alaska. He did a great job pointing out 3 bald eagles well in advance so everyone could spot them. Shan's sister, Nisha, was a smiling bubbly welcome back to land. All employees were wearing face masks, but their smiles were so big it's like you could see them through the masks. The floating was mostly serene with only a few minutes of rapids. We didn't row at all, which was great since I'm on vacation. They provided us water resistant overalls and boots. It was a sunny day so most passengers chose to skip the raincoat that was offered. I had a thin raincoat of my own that I wore over the overalls, and I was glad I did. Shan warned us that the front row of the raft is the most "fun" so that's where I sat. Where I was seated got soaked, but the other passengers only got lightly splashed. Once we were back on land, I realized that the gear provided kept me nice and dry! They are running with a skeleton crew right now since the season has been so slow for them, so no photos were offered for sale and the snack was just a bottle of water and granola bar. The driver to/from the cruise ship gave us lots of great information as well. We really had a blast, and it was worth every penny!
