If you are going to do the park, having a guide is a must. Chris was great!! Made sure we saw all the must see spots and knew what questions we were going to ask before we even asked.

Mesa Verde is the worlds first archeological National Park and truly does benefit from an expert guide like Chris, thank you for the review!

Rowin was our guide; he was knowledgeable, friendly, and humorous. We were unaware of either the cliff palace or the long house closures (Road construction and site improvements) at the time of our booking. Though we weren’t allowed the opportunity to explore those sites, the price was still the same cost. Next time, we’ll pay at the gate, spend the entire day at our leisure and at the places that most interest us on our visit. It would’ve been nice to walk at our own pace and spend more time at specific sites. Instead, we traveled with a group to the park. All in all, it was a nice visit and tour. FYI, drive yourself around the park while exploring at your leisure. Thank you for the nice trip to Mesa Verde!

Sorry you missed the info about the Cliff Palace. It has been closed since fall of 2019 so we have made sure that information is in all of our communications. Mesa Verde is a national park and as such can be visited without an expert guide like Rowan. That is what many people do so that is good advice for those who don't know that they can go to the park on their own. Thank you for the review!

I thought about doing a dyi Mesa Verde tour. So glad we did the tour with our guide Rowan. He gave more insight than we could’ve learned on our own. He seemed to be able to read the group and how to communicate based on the groups dynamics. There are signs at the exhibits, but they don’t answer questions. I wish I knew more about Mesa Verde before going. Wish I would’ve asked Rowan what we missed and should see on our next trip there. Our tour was 8/4/01. TG

Thanks TG! I'm glad you mentioned the tour date because we had two less than 5 star reviews for that day. They loved the guides too, but dinged us because they did not remembering us calling and emailing them about the changed meeting location. I see you didn't have that problem. On the next trip I suggest going out to Whetherill Mesa. It is further to drive to which makes it less visited and in my opinion more engaging, spritual and beautiful. Thank you for the review!
