After researching various companies for the key west day trip from miami, decided to stick witht this one. I wanted to do aditional activites but since you cant predict the weather we waited until we got on the island. The day trip is def worth the travel. We paid $100 for two ppl for roundtrip. The driver and the guide were very pleasant and attentive. Some rude travelers but thats not the companies fault. The bus came to the point of pickup 10 min late not a biggie though and then we finally left miami 30 min later than we suppose to. Some rude ppl dont realize that the whole bus is waiting on them while they got their coffee. The human factor was the biggest issue really, returning from key west we had to leave later again because of another late drunk person who doesnt keep track of time.
The trip had no issues. I was prepared with a warm hoodie and it wasnt freezing at all so i never used it even though air con was on. We stopped half way there for a bathroom break and munchies.
Once we got there we realized we can walk to main attractions so hop on/off troley was not necessary. So we spend all 5-6 hours just exploring and walking. We did not want to do snorkeling or other stuff (read other mixed reviews on those activites) plus issues with refunds if weather problems and time conflicts.
Now for weird points, but i do want to mention them since i paid my own money.
1. Paid for two ppl round trip, but the only gave out one map brochure and told a group of however of you paid together to share that one map/brochure. What if you wanted to keep one as a souvenir? I did pay full fair and that should be included per fair 1 brochure.
2. Also not sure if this is how the driver/guide make their money or if this is the company's policy to milk more money but the second floor front seats were chained off and were offered for an additional $20 per seat for a "front row seat experience" , btw the bus was booked only 1/2 way. The whole bottom of the double decker bus was empty.
3. Picked us right at the hotel by ourselves. Another group was picked up on the next few blocks. When we came back to miami around 9:30pm we were dropped off several blocks and not even on our street with us and the other group of ppl. Not a big deal we can walk. But the reason why i mention is because with all these moments it was mentioned a few times that tips are welcomed, which is $5 per worker from one traveler, meaning i should tip $10 for the trip, so is my family member another $10. And thats after shorting us on a brochure, as well making us walk more than we should have. Not a big deal, i will live. But it does throw you off a bit.
Overall it was a womderful trip to key west and im glda i got to experience it
