Travis was our guide. He was very pleasant and a careful driver! Of special note was that he played some Navajo songs on the flute and the drum and also sang. We would have liked to have had him describe more of the Anasazi and Navajo history in the area and see the sites used by motion picture director John Ford for Stagecoach, The Searchers, She Wore A Yellow Ribbon, etc. starring John Wayne. KEEP THIS IN MIND! Tours leaving from The View hotel (near Goulding's Lodge) required a payment of $8 per person for entry onto Navajo Park land - ONLY BY CREDIT CARD, no cash. We had no prior knowledge of this. Further, the tour email said we could check in inside The View hotel lobby- that is not valid, the check in was only in the parking lot of the hotel where the various tours depart. Most tour truck beds seat 3 rows of 4 people on bench seating. Some have a mike attached on the top of the truck cab so the driver can talk about the geology, history, etc. while driving to the various sites. Ours didn't . Goulding's Lodge tour truck had 5 rows of 4. One has to be able to use the high step to get in and out of the seating areas of all the tour trucks.
