My fiance had been wanting to go rafting for a very long time, but I just really wasn't sure about doing it simply because I was scared! So when he surprised me with the weekend trip to WV to go rafting I was not exactly very eager to go! How silly was I! Our trip was booked for Saturday morning to go down the lower New. We arrived at 8:30 am and we were quickly greeted by Randy and John Henry. Randy told us that since another party had canceled that it would just be us along with himself and his 3 young sons. We were fine with that! I was kind of relieved too because I figured if they can do it then I can too! After taking care of the formalities we set off for the river. It was about a 20 min. drive or so to the drop in location. Once we pulled up and saw all of the other, larger, outfits that were going out I was glad that we went with the smaller guys. It just seemed to me that the trip would be cookie-cutter going with a larger company. Once we set off down the river Randy explained the dos and don'ts and kind of what to expect. We stopped mid-way to have lunch, which was provided, on a large rock overlooking a rapid. It was fun to watch the other rafts come though. Once we finished lunch we loaded back into the raft and down the river. The trip lasted about 4-5 hours not including drive time. It was a lot of fun! Randy and his boys were great! They made for a very fun first-time rafting trip! Highly recommend these guys!

Our experience with West Virginia Adventures was awesome from booking our reservation to the minute we got off the river. This was our first time rafting and we already cannot wait to come back to WVA for more. Our guide was (Colorado) Randy and he was exceptional! He made sure we were safe but also made our trip down the Lower New a lot of fun! He was really knowledgeable about the area and gave a lot of fun info as we floated along and guided us perfectly through the rapids. The other boat on our trip was guided by the other Randy - they were both really great to spend the day with and provided a great lunch. I would absolutely recommend WVA for a rafting trip and we'll be asking for Colorado Randy as our guide when we return!

We had a morning rafting trip on the New River for 5 novices with West Virginia Adventures. Prior to getting on the river, Rob and John Henry did an excellent job of preparing us for the experience and orienting the group to safety issues. John Henry was very knowledgeable about the history and points of interest on the trip. Rob came along in his kayak and took pictures. We had a tight time schedule and they were very willing to adjust the trip to accommodate our needs. Lunch was casual and the trip was a perfect blend of beautiful scenery, learning, excitement, laughs, and an all around good time. Thanks!
