This neighborhood and its cemetery tells the story of New Orleans from the Louisiana Purchase to the Civil War. Stunning antebellum mansions, lush gardens, unforgettable stories, and beautiful photo opportunities await! We keep our group size under 12 guests to make in a fun, personal experience.

This tour is fabulous! Our lovely guide Jackie kept us so entertained with stories about the history and houses of the Garden District that the two hours flew by. She was knowledgeable, articulate, FUNNY, and full of great tidbits about the characters inhabiting the Garden District (past and present!). The very small group meant we could hear her easily, ask questions, and see everything without crowding on the sidewalk or spilling out onto the road. Of all the tours I've had of the Garden District over the years, this was by far the best.

Awww, this is such a sweet review. That you are leaving New Orleans with "more knowledge and affection" is exactly what we wish for when we tell our stories to our guests. We love this place and we want others to love it, too. James' humor and storytelling abilities make all of his tours so special and memorable. The Garden District is a "must see" when visiting New Orleans, and we are so grateful that we get to show it to our guests. Please come back and tour another neighborhood with us one day! Libby

Fabulous tour! I'd take it again tomorrow if I could. Jackie enlightened and entertained us with stories about the history of the Garden District and the characters creating that history (you seriously couldn't make this stuff up --take the tour and find out!). The pace was perfect. We covered lots of ground but had plenty of short stops so my dad didn't get tired and I didn't get bored, which is something of a balancing feat. In fact, we both were enthralled! Jackie is a delightful storyteller with a wealth of knowledge about Garden District homes and history ranging from Civil War drama to current sports figures. I've been to the Garden District several times, but never had a tour as interesting and enjoyable. And personalized! We passed a couple of huge groups crowded on the sidewalk and I was so glad we were able to be close to our guide and hear her with ease. The tour met at a bakery right by a streetcar stop (easy to get to from the French Quarter) and finished in front of Commander's Palace. The two hours went by quickly, and we actually had so many questions that we went overtime. Perfect both for first-time and returning visitors.

Since you were here, the world has undergone serious changes, but we are still here and committed to giving small-group, storytelling tours that are customized to the interests (and pace) of our guests.
