We (3) met Josh, our tour guide, and the three other people that would be on our tour at the Gracious bakery. The first thing Josh warned us about were the uneven sidewalks and he wasn't kidding! Our first stop was a short history lesson in which Josh explained how the Garden District came to be. We then stopped by the Lafayette Cemetery where Josh explained how the cemeteries and the burial process works. He also showed us a picture of a tomb with a for sale on it! He told us that tombs cannot be sold with bones still inside. We then went on our house tour. We stopped by homes that were historically important and Josh told us stories about the houses and their owners. We stopped by houses that were architecturally important and Josh explained the features of the homes. We also viewed homes that were "haunted", owned by "famous" people, and homes that we just beautiful to look at. We learned about housing prices, renovations, and the costs of maintaining such large homes. The time flew by and we were sorry that the tour had come to an end. Josh managed to keep everyone's interest and was a wealth of information!

Thank you for this excellent rating and wonderful summary of your tour with the marvelous Mr. Josh! The Garden District offers so much - sights, history, stories - and Josh is an absolute master at sharing it with his guests. You are really right about the sidewalks - they are treacherous! However, it makes everyone slow their pace so they can really take in the lush and gracious beauty and spirit of the neighborhood. I am so happy that you were entertained and learned on your tour, and I hope you come back and see us again.
