We arrived at Pier 83, exchanged our City Pass tickets and upgraded to a NYC Landmarks Cruise for an additional $5 each. Given the time of year the inside of the boat was full so we headed out to the open deck area, a tad chilly on a December afternoon, but hey, once in a lifetime and all that. Plus the fact we got amazing pictures of all the iconic buildings, and got incredibly close to the Statue of Liberty, we even had a little flurry of snow for the full on Christmas experience. The boat itself was incredibly tidy, with the added addition of a bar and snack service. We started off the afternoon with a cheeky wine but by the end of the cruise we were on the hot chocolate. Would highly recommend the circle line cruise and the tour guide was very informative and funny at the same time. We were on the 3.30pm departure and obviously given the time of year on the way back to pier 83 we experienced a NYC sunset and the iconic buildings at dusk. Absolutely brilliant.

We arrived at Pier 83 and after a short wait found ourselves on the upper deck in glorious sunshine. The boat was clean and comfortable and there is a bar for snacks and light refreshments. The commentary was both informative and humourous. We set off down the Hudson taking in all the sights which were pointed out throughout our journey. Up to the statue of Liberty and then on to the three bridges; Brooklyn Manhatten and Williamsburg Going under all 3 and then returning back. The cruise was 90 well worth minutes. Thoroughly enjoyable and gives a different view point for all the sights.

We did our first circle line cruise yesterday. It was a great experience. The tour was exactly as advertised, and ran on time. It is a great way to see the major sights in a reasonably short period of time and provides angles and perspectives not possible on the ground. Our guide was excellent. Not only was he knowledgeable, but his jokes were funny and well timed, and he mixed talking with quiet time, Even though you knew he had done this a time or two or million before, he still seemed to genuinely enjoy the telling of the stories. While it might not be worth the extra for everyone, paying for the premier ticket was well worth it for us. Best views on the boat with the fewest other people about ... great for photographers.
