My friend Kim & I just returned from our Alaskan adventure. We booked several tours with 1st Alaska and were never disappointed! We did the Aurora Viewing at the yurts with Melissa our first night and saw rhe Aurora! Tatiana was our guide for the dog sledding and Jared was our musher. It was fantastic - chance to meet the dogs and then the exhilarating ride. We also did the night ice fishing with Tyson as our guide. I never fish but I caught 2 salmon. To top off the evening, the Aurora was out and we really enjoyed it- Magical. 3 of our tours were led by Josh - The Fairbanks city tour, the Arctic Circle tour and the Chena Hot Springs tour. I can not compliment Josh enough. He was informative and very helpful. Each tour was fantastic. We didn’t see the Aurora but that is in Mother Nature’s hands. We did see several moose. The Chena hot Springs tour was interrupted by a 4 car accident on the road. Josh stepped right into the situation and handled it very professionally. We all shifted around in our van to accommodate the 4 adults and 2 yr old along with their luggage and took them to Chena Hot Springs with us. No one should be stranded and Josh made sure that they had accommodations for the night and a ride to Fairbanks the next day. This is the kind of employee companies dream about. He displays the care, initiative and helpfulness we all need at times as travelers. He went above and beyond and we appreciated him! I hope that 1st Alaska does as well. Most impressive with all your guides- their full commitment to the people, community and nature of Alaska. They have an obvious love and passion for what they do and it shows in how they treat the customers. Bravo!!

Josh was a lifesaver literally. We were stranded as a result of car accident involving many cars, and he went out of his way to rescue my family including my little toddler. There was another car blocking the way that crashed even later on, and he proceeded to tow it to the side, to prevent future accidents. He helped moved all our luggage that was stuck there and was able to take us to the nearest place at Chena springs hotel. We were very shaken up, but the entire people in the shuttle were patient and so understanding of our plight. From when I stayed in the shuttle, I could tell he is a great tour guide, but most of all an even better human being. He was kind, personable with the whole tour group, and quick to act in an emergency. Based on his character, I wouldn't hesitate to have him as a tour guide, knowing that he's a safe driver, he was reassuring, and he'll help you when you need it.

Josh is so F-ing good at his job! He wants you to see everything and have the best experience possible and he really goes out of his way to make it happen. Literally watched the sky for us until the Auroras came out and rounded everyone up to get to the best possible viewing location. Great guide and great guy book with confidence!
