This was my 5th photo safari I've taken and this time I did the Central Park at Night safari. We had a very small group this time--just myself and one other attendee and we had both taken safaris with instructor Zim before.
Our first shot was to be a skyline view taken from a location in Central Park, but it was the night of a power outage affecting a large swath of Manhattan, so the buildings had no lights so we spent less time here. On to the next shot we walked deeper into the park and spent a good chunk of time on The Mall area taking various shots down the walkway and surrounding area. Bethesda Fountain and Arcade were the next stops.
I really enjoyed this tour and and learned a lot about long exposures. Zim spent time going back and forth between the 2 of us commenting on photos and how to improve them by either changing the composition or by adjusting camera settings. I feel much more confident now about trying longer exposures and this course has given me other ideas for shots I want to try. I always come away from a photo safari with new knowledge and ways to apply it and these workshops are one of my favorite things I do when visiting New York. I would recommend a photo safari to anyone with an interest in improving their photography skills.
