My husband and I did the shark dive on our Honeymoon in January- we had a great time and are now looking into other types of shark encounters we can do in our home of California.
I love that this company guarantees sharks, and boy did we see sharks! Probably at least 10 Galapagos reef sharks, which were just amazing to see in the water.
We went out on a day with pretty rough ocean conditions. It was a bit treacherous getting in and out of the cage because the water was rolling. The captain came out to help people safely get in and out of the boat. The water was still very clear and the sharks didn’t seem to care about the rough water at all.
My one piece of feedback would be for the staff: the captain was great, but we didn’t really hear from her too much, the voyage was lead mostly by another member of the crew. He really had a lot of (too many) jokes that he threw in with his speeches about where we should sit, where the life vests were, what to do in case of emergency, etc. In fact, there was so much joking during the safety briefing that I felt that I didn’t understand what to do in case of emergency because the information wasn’t communicated with any sense of clarity or seriousness. Hey, I’m down to have a good time and joke around too, but when you’re out on the rough open ocean with sharks literally circling the boat, maybe we just take 5 minutes to be serious and make sure everyone clearly understands safety protocol.
The other thing is they spent a good amount of time harping on and pressuring the passengers to give tips at the end of the journey, which came off as a bit unprofessional.
