We enjoyed a fun time on an Ocean Raft Adventure last week! The entire Ocean Raft Alaska team was so great! Jen was a great guide, sharing very interesting information about the fjord, flora, and wildlife.C.P. did a wonderful job driving our raft all over the fjord. I was a little nervous, especially when I learned we had to wear those big, orange Maverick suits (I believe that's what they called them). We aren't exactly "adrenalin junkies" or very outdoorsy. It was so much fun! We had a great time!!

The only reason I’m giving this excursion 5 stars is that Tripadvisor won’t let me give them 6 stars. What an absolutely fantastic time. Just fantastic. I wholeheartedly agree with all of the raves listed here, as it was one of highlights of our cruise. My wife and I arrived in Skagway last Tuesday morning as part of our Alaskan cruise. We were met at the dock by four members of the Ocean Raft Alaska team who introduced themselves, asked about where we were travelling from, and shared some great tips about Skagway and Alaska as a whole. From there, they drove us the short distance to the “Thunderdome” a.k.a. the staging area for the trip. They collected our extra gear for safekeeping and outfitted us in bright orange suits and goggles designed to keep us warm and dry during our trip. From there we walked the short distance to our boat, and we were off! Our boat pilot was Ashley, who must have been a Formula One driver in a past life, as he handled the boat like it was on rails. Our narrator / guide / cheerleader was the brilliant and wonderful Jennifer. She shared her encyclopedic and enthusiastic knowledge of the flora, fauna, and topographical features of the Lynn Canal. While the ride itself was thrilling, the experience would not have been nearly as complete without Jennifer’s fantastic narration. As far as the trip itself, I will describe certain characteristics, but I don’t want to give any spoilers. Just picture a waterbourne roller coaster, and add waterfalls, harbor seals, bald eagles, and two solid hours of laughter and smiles; that should give you a pretty good taste of what to expect. BTW, if anyone on the ship noticed someone staring down jealously from the deck of his stateroom on the Solstice while you were returning from your 3:00 PM tour, that was me. P.S., to those who are to those travelling to Alaska on the Celebrity Solstice this summer (May – Sept. 2014), this is excursion SK84, the Ocean Raft Wildlife Adventure. Highest possible recommendation.

Was looking for a shore excursion in Skagway on our recent cruise to Alaska...and came across this one. I read the reviews here and wondered if it could really be THAT good. The answer is...YES--it's THAT good! This excursion wasn't being offered through our cruiseline, so I contacted Ocean Raft Adventure directly via their website. They say they will get back to you within 24 hours--and they do...! They are a small company, so their service is very personalized--I didn't realize that I was emailing back and forth with one of the owners...! We were picked up at our cruise dock and taken to their location to "suit up"...giant suits (think snowmobile suit) that will keep you warm and dry--and they have sizes to fit everyone. A short walk to the pier--and you board the boat. They give you easy instructions on how to get in and out. The seating is remarkably comfortable (heavily padded) and there are grab bars on every seat, so holding on is VERY easy. As we departed the dock, we were given the safety spiel...these guys are well-trained and certified--they know what they're doing..! The owners operate this tour themselves, so there is a great sense of pride. There is also a naturalist who is also onboard to explain all of the things that you will see. From this point forward, the only way to describe the rest of the tour is to say...it's PHENOMENAL! We cruised up and down the Lynn Canal at various speeds (some fast, some slow, some loops). We got up close to the beautiful waterfalls and cliffs--with plenty of opportunities for picture-taking. We saw birds, seals, sea lions...and even a small crab swimming around in one of the inlets! (Would have loved to see a whale, but that's not something they can control.) We cruised for a full 2 hours and we LOVED every minute of it...! It was truly the best excursion we've ever done--and would definitely do it again...! Ocean Raft Alaska is definitely a MUST DO...!
