We were on a seven day Carnival Cruise trip through southern Alaska and did several excursions. This was our favorite by far. The raft itself was great fun, and no we did not get drenched. It was actually very comfortable and the kids loved it. Captain Chris and Ashley were awesome guides, very knowledgeable of the local flora and fauna. You'll see bald eagles, seals, tons of waterfalls, possibly whales on this excursion. We already wanna go back and do it again.

I cannot agree enough with what the other reviewers have said. This was our favorite excursion in Alaska by far, and the best opportunity for encountering wildlife in close proximity the entire trip. Looking back over our pictures, we realized time and time again that our favorite shots came from this adventure. You will not believe it until you experience it for yourself just how close they can maneuver to things! The trip takes place in an outstandingly beautiful fjord filled with scenic waterfalls and vistas. The guides are actively on the lookout for wildlife to point out and flavor the experience with knowledge about the area and what you are seeing. Throw in some humor from Ashley, and it's a fun time for all you won't quickly forget! As someone who suffers from motion sickness, was nervous about trying it, but my fears were quickly alleviated. While fast, the ride is smooth! Other members of my party were concerned about being cold but they have lots of gear on board to handle whatever weather the day brings and accommodated everyone's needs. We all had our cameras, we kept them in the pockets of our provided jumpsuits and pulled them out as the moment presented itself. You will want to take pictures and the guides are happy to oblige. You can tell they truly enjoy what they do and that excitement rubs off on everyone else. Thanks for the memories!

Whether you book through the cruise ship or on your own, this trip is a memorable experience. The guides freshly communicated their awe for Alaska and nature. Suiting up, waddling, zipping in the water all brought grins to the faces of all. Although all the seats are great, if you can, let your kids take the 2 seats in the front row and the rest take outside seats. You are likely going to separate anyway. Also note: there is a back seat without a saddle that can accommodate a larger person. The saddles are for any size person allowed aboard but the back seat is a little firmer for your back, whether you are larger or not. If your day is long enough, book the timing of this around a Yukon Discovery tour with a Frontier Excursions, and you will have a varied buffet of experiences far better and longer recalled than just the train ride. Ocean Raft can sometimes add extra outings at 7:30 am and 5:30 pm. Ask if they will for you!
