Book this tour if you can. Princess offered a halibut fishing excursion and a salmon fishing excursion, but this was the only company that offered a combo of the two. Even then, I was hesitant to book an excursion that wasn't through Princess but after speaking with Mike, who is very knowledgeable, and seeing how no other company on TripAdvisor compared to the Alaska Catch, I was sold. You should really have four people as that is the minimum for this excursion but we ended up splitting the price of four between three people. That's okay, because it was still cheaper than the per person halibut fishing excursion through Princess and we got to go out as a private group. Our initial time was 11:15-5:15pm. When we found out last minute Princess had changed our time at port from 10-6pm to 9:30-4:30pm, we panicked thinking we'd lose time on our excursion. But Mike came to the rescue! We were able to get a hold of him last minute and he was able to accommodate meeting us in the morning. We actually ended up fishing more than 6 hours and he got us back in time to get back on the ship. 10 out of 10 we would recommended The Alaska Catch! Also, their site has a nice breakdown of how much it would cost to process and ship your fish home. Another cool thing I couldn't find anywhere else online.

Five of us took a chapter with Capt Mike on June 12 while our cruise ship was in port. We booked the trip about 3 weeks ago...I saw great reviews and we reached out to this company. My email was promptly responded to and another in our group called and spoke to the captain in person. The price was fair and equivalent to other prices we saw. Capt Mike met us right outside the ship and took us to his boat moored nearby. No shuttle needed. My concern was being back to the ship in time for “all aboard” and Mike was very respectful of this. He actually kept us out a bit longer (NEVER has another captain done this in my deep sea Fishing experience) because we were hitting fish hard. All in all, we caught 50 fish. Lots of shark we threw back, 3 halibut, Rock fish, lots of ridiculously ugly Rat fish, a type of flounder, pollock, cod and surprise....an octopus! We admired him and put him back. Mike catered to our group...5 lines running at all times...sparkling clean boat and simply good old fashioned kindness and manners.He was talking to other captains during our trip to ask and share where the fish were hitting. He took care of the fish we wanted to send home. Shipping and processing paperwork was done on the boat on the way back to port. Granted we had a great day and not all days are as successful but he worked his “fin” off to make a great experience for us and he was successful. Great conversation, great trip, I highly recommend Alaska Catch.

We had a great experience fishing. He was right outside the cruise ship ready and waiting for us. He provided us with snacks and drinks and promptly got us to the fishing location. Our goal was to catch three halibut and we did! We went back to ketchikan early and he even incorporated some whale watching on the way back. Friendly and accommodating, I would recommend.
