Desert Highlights is Moab's original canyoneering guide service. This half day canyoneering tour visits a route that Desert Highlights' founder created as a technical guided canyoneering route in the late 1990's. Here, we explore an area that most people would not visit on their own. With the use of ropes and other technical gear, a competent guide and a sense of adventure, we are able to explore areas that are otherwise inaccessible. The Moab desert is our home and we are passionate about sharing it with others. During your guided tour, you will not only safely descend a beautiful, water-carved canyon, but you will learn about the flora and fauna, geology and history of the area that we are so lucky to call our backyard.

We had an absolutely wonderful time canyoneering with Desert Highlights. Kai was our guide for our family of 4, and she made the rappelling experience an awesome life’s adventure. She was fantastic with our two kids (Colt/8) and (Sydney/12). She kept us safe; we had nice conversations and learned about the area; and most importantly, we had a ton of fun. Thank you! Such a great experience! This tour made it very easy to enjoy ourselves even though we knew nothing about canyoneering. The tour was private so we got tons of attention from the guides and had the opportunity to ask them tons of questions. If we ever end up back in Moab, we will definitely book another tour with them!

My husband and I did a Medieval Chamber rappel. I am not in the best of shape (my husband is) but this rappel was fine for me. It was not too strenuous. We really enjoyed our adventure and Kai did a fantastic job of leading us and keeping us safe. I definitely recommend doing this at least once in your lifetime!
