Desert Highlights is Moab's original canyoneering guide service. This half day canyoneering tour visits a route that Desert Highlights' founder created as a technical guided canyoneering route in the late 1990's. Here, we explore an area that most people would not visit on their own. With the use of ropes and other technical gear, a competent guide and a sense of adventure, we are able to explore areas that are otherwise inaccessible. The Moab desert is our home and we are passionate about sharing it with others. During your guided tour, you will not only safely descend a beautiful, water-carved canyon, but you will learn about the flora and fauna, geology and history of the area that we are so lucky to call our backyard.

The Medival Chamber and Morning Glory rappels were amazing. Melissa our tour guide did an excellent job guiding us, teaching us, and making sure we were safe. My teenage daughter had never rappelled beforehand and Melissa did a great job making her feel at ease. It was a lot of fun and a huge confidence builder. Would definitely recommend anyone to do it. Desert Highlights also did a great job with making sure COVID-19 health safety guidelines were followed.

We had such an amazing time on our tour! Felt perfectly challenged and were able to customize it to make it what we wanted. Melissa was seriously the best. Highly highly recommend!

What a fantastic experience! So many adventure companies in Moab it’s hard to know who to chose. We picked Desert Highlights because they and a five star rating AND they answered the phone lol. Lucky for us since it’s COVID season. Melissa was awesome on the phone and helped us pick a great trip based on our timeline, fitness level and sense of adventure. Now Kaia, what an amazing guide! She was patient and explained the hows and whys to all of our first timer questions. She’s super knowledgeable of not only her sport but the beautiful landscape we explored. It wasn’t like following around a tour guide but more like making a new friend. Book early morning to avoid the summer heat like they suggest. We will book again soon I’m sure.
