We're called Unique for a reason... This is not your standard Hana tour. We'll take you on a full day adventure all the way to Hana and beyond then back, or all the way around (depending on weather and road conditions). We will stop at all the best spots along the way, as your driver negotiates the busy 650+ turns and 55+ one-lane bridges. You can just kick back, take in the views, and enjoy the fun!

Highlights may include hiking through lush jungle, swim in pristine waterfalls, taste fresh banana bread and coconut ice cream, hidden lava tubes, scenic view points, local food trucks and farm stands, black or red sand beaches... and learning about Hawaii's history, geology, and legends...

Remember it is YOUR private tour, so talk to your guide about what YOU like and want to do!

Due to uneven surfaces, this tour is not recommended for those with walking disabilities or using a wheelchair. Please bring or wear sneakers/keens/water shoes with good grip
Operates in all weather conditions, rain or shine, please dress appropriately, bring change of clothes.

Pua'a Ka'a State Park

One of the Road to Hana's most amazing waterfalls! Weather-permitting, you'll be able to swim in the "refreshing" water (read: chillyyyyy!!), and even get behind the waterfall for an epic photo.

Ke‘anae Point

A big time favorite along the Road to Hana, Ke'anae point offers breathtaking views of the coastline, with big waves crashing on the rugged lava rocks. And of course, fresh banana bread, yum ;-)

Hana

We'll reach Hana just around lunch time, and you'll have a choice to sample some of the yummy local food trucks in the area. Local bbq, fresh fish, Thai, Mexican, Huli Huli chicken...? It's always a surprise!

Kaumahina State Wayside Park

A beautiful lookout point over the Hana coastline, overlooking Honomanu Bay and Ke'anae peninsula. Bonus point: a bathroom break if need!

Koki Beach

Just beyond Hana is a small hill, where it is said the bones of Pele, Goddess of the volcanoes, are buried. The rock is crumbly and erosion has turned the beach a deep shade of red. (Note this is not Kaihalulu / Red Sand Beach, which requires trespassing on private property and following a dangerous trail on which accidents happen regularly--we don't do that).

Wailua Falls

One of the Road to Hana's most photogenic waterfalls! If conditions allow, you might even be able to freshen up in the small pond.

‘Ohe‘o Gulch

We'll drive over the bridge that crosses over the famous Seven Sacred Pools, aka Oheo Gulch. Beautiful photo op! (Note: if you want to enter the National Park and hike up on the Pipiwai trail through the Bamboo Forest, up to Waimoku Falls, please select the 7 Sacred Pools & Bamboo Forest Hike Tour!)

Alelele Bridge

Another stunning view on the Road to Hana, right at the edge between the lush rainforest of the "wet" side, and the dry brush of the "backside". (Note: going all the way around East Maui is NOT guaranteed, as it depends on weather, road conditions, and ongoing road works).

Ho'okipa Beach Park

On the way back, if you still have a little bit of energy left, we can stop at Ho'okipa beach to check out surfing action, and hopefully a few turtles basking in the sun!

My family and I took the Road to Hana trip with Unique Maui Tours. Wendy helped get our tour setup, via an in person phone call. I would recommend calling and chatting with someone about your options. Wendy then stepped in when our original tour guide became sick. It was a great trip. She took us to places the larger companies don’t go, and knew so much information about the island of Maui itself. She even had a few original songs that she sang for us on the ride. It was the highlight of our trip. If you want a smaller private tour, with a personal touch, I think this is the company to use.

What a great day exploring the road to Hana! Lance was friendly, fun, and a great driver. I have driven the road to Hana several times by myself, and having someone else do the driving was a real treat. Being a small group of 7 people, the tour was customized for what we wanted to experience— incredible views, fun adventures, and good food! We stopped at amazing places, some of which I’d never been to before — waterfalls, caves, swimming holes, and the black sand beach. We watched the crashing waves at Keanae Point and tried Auntie’s famous banana bread, ate a fantastic Thai food truck lunch in Hana, and finished the day with Greg’s awesome ice cream. Thank you Unique Maui Tours!!

This was absolutely a highlight of our trip to Maui. I would absolutely advise to go all the way and do the hike, otherwise the Road to Hana is a lot of turns for much smaller waterfalls. Our tour guide Lance went above and beyond to make sure our experience was exactly what we wanted, made recommendations and made sure we were completely satisfied with the day. I wouldn't hesitate to book with Unique Maui, it will be a memory you'll never forget.
