Let’s start with the positives. We had 6 stops, at 3 hours long. All the samples were great. We did not leave on an empty stomach. So, the food was the main focus and did not disappoint. The only negatives, not a whole lot of cultural information. We’ve been on several other food tours that had much more information. The next is our guide. Young and very friendly, however he spent a lot of time talking about himself. Don’t mind knowing something about the guide, but I feel he was way too informative. He was fairly new and new to Savannah so he may less informative because of that. Nothing bad about him personally. Overall our 3rd best food tour out of the 7 we have been on in 5 different cities.

Shannon was a funny, informative guide and all the food we had was hot, fresh and delicious. We actually didn’t have a lot of walking, as most of the places we visited were fairly close in the downtown area. A few of us missed having more specific Savannah items like oysters, BBQ, or pralines (we had a lot of bread: sausage roll—which may have been the best item—amazing!; biscuit with fried green tomato and pimento cheese; empanada with chicken; and a cookie, so very filling and all delicious, but would have appreciated maybe more variety). We also sampled shrimp and grits (amazing!), she crab soup, 😋, and the honey store. I also enjoyed all the places we went, but I wondered why there was really no mention of local institutions like Lady and Sons, Savannah Candy Co., The Pink House, etc., or any famous chefs from the area. Would have loved to have met some or gone into a kitchen somewhere. This tour was good, but I think it could be a lot better as there are tons of culinary possibilities in Savannah.

Thank you for your feedback. We are happy that you enjoyed the tour! We also appreciate your suggestions and appreciate the opportunity to address some of them here. We do offer pralines and Savannah Candy Kitchen is one of our beloved partners, but just not on the specific tour route you chose. In fact, as you have suggested, Savannah's culinary identity is vast and it is difficult to highlight the British influence, Lowcountry classics like shrimp'n'grits, she-crab soup, fried-green tomatoes and pimento cheese, the Spanish influence on southern cuisine (particularly from Savannah to Florida), and point out the surprises of what Savannah's cuisine truly is . . . while at the same time introducing those guests to touristy favorites like Lady and Sons and The Olde Pink House (which are great and deserve a visit in their own right). Good BBQ is also great in Savannah, but usually requires a trip outside of the Historic District - like Randy's on Wheaton or Tricks in the Starland District - which is not walkable from the other great tastes in the Historic District. In other words, we agree with you . . . Savannah's food is so good and the spectrum of cuisine so vast that there is no way to enjoy all of it on one 3-hour food tour . . . which is why we have 3 tour options. Come take another tour with us and see if we can't show off more of Savannah's incredible cuisine. Thanks again!
