Had a semi private lesson with Brax. The lesson was great, all 3 of us got up and surfed. It was a great, I would do it again.

Don’t go with a large group. We had 7 and because of that we stood around and watched others learn to surf. We only had 4-5 attempts each while we watched smaller groups get more than a dozen tries. I was disappointed that they didn’t warn of that ahead of time. If we had known, we would have broken our group up. It was definitely the downer of our vacation

We had a 10 am morning semi-private lesson in Lahaina and the spot was full of surfers. The system given with paddling to the buoy, waiting at the buoy for the call of the instructor and then paddling to the instructor lead to lots of paddling and reduced surf time significantly. Scott, our instructor was little talkative and did not find any motivating words for our kids aged 12 and 14. Of the 2h lesson, we spent about 1:20 in the water and about 10 min Briefing at the Beach, the Rest was as walking from the shop to the beach and back including getting a board out of a van. All in all surfing is great fun and all of us stood, for this I give the points, location and teaching could be way better.
