Elyssa was our tour guide for the Real Alaska tour. She was amazing! Shared so much information about Seward and the Seavey operation and so willing to answer our questions. Wonderful experience. The sled dog tour portion was excellent. Everyone was so friendly and forthcoming with all kinds of interesting info. Loved that we were able to try on the coats and mittens they wear and get on the actual sled used during the Iditarod. Such a great hands on experience. The puppies. Oh my!, the puppies. They were so adorable and we were lucky we were able to snuggle with them. We loved watching the Seavey's in various Iditarod shows and were excited to visit their operation. We learned so much!! Would definitely recommend!!

Our Alaska Railroad tour included a night at the Seward Windsong Lodge, in close proximity to the Seavey Ididaride and the Exit Glacier. We're so glad our "Real Alaska Tour" package included both activities--and lunch at the Windsong with one of Dan Seavey's grandsons--because we might otherwise have nickel-dimed ourselves out of one of the most enjoyable days of our two-week trip in Alaska. Learning firsthand from Iditarod mushers and seeing the Seaveys' year-round kennel operations added a dimension to our trip that was irreplaceable. Getting a cart ride pulled by an enthusiastic Iditerod team and seeing a new litter of potential sled dogs capped the experience. And our guide for the kennel, glacier, and Seward tours was knowledgeable, entertaining, and informative.

Seavey's more than delivered on their wonderful excursion, The Real Alaska Tour. We started our day with an easy pickup at the Alaskan Railroad Train Station, where we were able to check our luggage for our 6pm train. We were greeted warmly by the tour guide Elyssa who showcased her extensive experience with Alaska and dog sledding. Seavey's was very informative sharing the history and logistics that go into the dog sledding sport. Throughout the entire sled pull demonstration there were two dedicated team members at checkpoints around the course making sure the dogs stayed hydrated and cool in the unusual 80 degree heat. From Seavey's we proceeded to a quaint lunch at Resurrection Road House. After lunch Elyssa transported us to Exit Glacier where we were able to explore up to three different paths over the course of the hour ranging from overlooking the glacier itself to the flood plain run off. This was followed by a brief but informative tour around the city of Seward all concluding in time to make our scheduled boarding for the Alaskan Railway to Anchorage. Seavey's is a definite must for old and new visitors alike! Thank you for a wonderful time and we hope to come back soon!
