We enjoyed this tour very much. Our tour guide Madeline was very knowledgeable about the history
of the area and gave us a background of what we were going to see and the areas we were passing through.
The swamp boat ride was very interesting and we got to see 2 baby alligators and several species of birds including a bald eagle. The boat captain explained all about the hunting of alligators in the area. Both plantations were very interesting and the guides very informative. The pace gave you time to see most of the area. The lunch at Oak Alley was served in the restaurant and was sit down rather than a buffet. It was very good. The plantations are very different with Oak Alley being more upper class and Laura being
a regular working plantation. The only down side to the tour was that we were in next to the last seat on the van and the ride was very rough even though Madeline was a very good driver. Also could have done with fewer visuals being passed back as it disrupted what Madeline was saying and by the time it got to the back of the van we were already past the area. Overall an excellent tour and we would recommend.
Fantastic tour. Our guide Kat lovely and extremely knowledgeable. Fascinating insight into civil war, slavery and plantation life.
