Great day even though cold and rain. Plantations were beautiful, full of history, great guides, really informative. The bayou trip was fabulous. Incredibly knowledgeable guide, made it all relevant. Even saw alligators, turtles, snakes and water birds.
We loved the whole day. We thought the tour company did an excellent job, and we learned so much about Louisana from our driver Joseph. We enjoyed our visit to Oak Alley and the typical Louisiana lunch that was provided, but our favorite plantation was the Creole one with tons of detailed information about life there - excellent tour guide. We also thoroughly enjoyed the visit to the bayou on the swamp boat. Our guide Roland Torres had tons of stories and information about the bayou. He was definitely as interesting as the bayou itself! My husband and I both felt that we learned so much about that part of Louisiana, and plan to return some day.
We enjoyed this tour at the plantation a lot but Loved the bayou tour the most. The man was a wealth of knowledge and gave us extra time out on the bayou. He had lived there all his life so had some extraordinary storys to tell. (My favorite!) The food at the Oaks plantation was GREAT... My only concern of this tour was our driver Nigi she scared the heck out of us all with her driving lack of skills. Using a GPS from her phone while driving because we got lost twice was bad enough but stopping in the middle of the freeway turn lane with the end of the van sticking out into oncoming traffic while looking for her book for us to sign about how we liked the tour was a bit scary!!
