I booked the helicopter ride to happen immediately after I proposed to my now fiancé as I thought it would be the perfect activity to celebrate. Sadly, the initial booking was cancelled due to health and safety concerns.
We were given the option to rearrange for a couple of days later. After confirmation of the new time (10:15am), we were informed that this time was no longer available and that it would need to be postponed until 12:45pm (without justification). This was our last day in New York and we informed the tour operators that 12:45, would be the absolute latest we could do the trip. Nevertheless at least we were going to be able to complete the activity.
Unfortunately, this doesn't end well, as we were about to catch the subway to Lower Manhattan to head to the heliport (11am), we received yet another message saying that there were delays of an unknown length and that we would find out more in the next half an hour. We had no option but to request a refund, as the delays would have put us at risk of missing our flight home and we didn't want to waste our last day in New York travelling to a location on the off chance that we maybe able to squeeze the trip in.
I booked this activity in the hope that it would be a highlight of a once in a lifetime trip. I appreciate that H&S is the main priority when carrying out an activity like this, and we were understanding after the first postponement, however, it's difficult to accept that after three postponed flight times on two different days our activity was just cancelled.
A refund has been requested and I have received a confirmation email from TripAdvisor.
