This is a great experience if you want to go off the beaten path and explore Portland’s quirky, weird, but adorable side. Dresden was a fantastic tour guide, and so knowledgeable about the city. His enthusiasm and energy for all things Portland was truly infectious and I definitely walked away from this experience having a better understanding and appreciation for what the city is all about. An absolute MUST when you visit Portland!

I came to Portland on vacation with my boy friend and amongst my detailed planning while perusing AIRBNB I came across a recommendation to come explore bars and the rich history with Dresden, I booked the tour and am so glad I did! America itself is so vast, each state is like a tiny country, with its own culture and community. What better way to experience such a place, than with a local!? Dresden is not a tour guide, he is a traveler’s friend. His knowledge superseded anything you could find on a plaque, he not only wanted to share his town with you, but he wanted to get to know who you were as a person. The conversation amongst strangers felt as rich and smooth as a Ferrero Rocher chocolate company’s commercial. I will not spoil the bars we hiked to, nor the drinks we had, but suffice it to say it’s not anything I would’ve found by myself and the companionship alone was worth every penny! Why be normal!? Normal now a days can consist of spending a bunch of money on drinks, hotels, or taking photos for your instagram. While there are a lot of great photo opportunities along this trip, I’m glad I chose to be weird. Take the chance, spend the few bucks on 3 hours of great drinks, and better conversations with Dresden and strangers. Learn about the city and more importantly about the people who make the city wonderful. Thanks for keeping Portland weird and I hope our paths cross again some day. Cheers to throwing snakes!! *Please note: you will not handle any snakes on the tour and no snakes or reptiles were harmed on the tour nor does Dresden condone harming animals.

We had an absolute blast with Dresden. He is incredibly engaging and has such passion for Portland. We had great conversations, and learned so much. We got to experience great places that we likely would not have discovered on our own. Dresden was flexible and catered our tour to our interests. I’d highly recommend that anyone take this tour.
