We stayed at Kaanapali Alii, so Magic Merman was very convenient. They picked us up from the beach about 2 minute walk from where we stayed. The ocean was choppy from wind, but the Merman knew where to go to get out of the wind & chop. We saw plenty of whales, including several breaches, which was exciting!

Great picture! Seeing the island from the water provides such a wonderful perspective on the beautiful island of Maui. We are proud to be the "small" boat that departs from Ka'anapali Beach. It allows us to take smaller groups out to the more exclusive and protected places where the larger boats can't. We truly appreciate you joining us and we hope to see you again soon. Mahalo!

The group of people running this tour company truly love what they do. They want their passengers to have the best experience possible, and they are also mindful of not being too aggressive about getting near wildlife. Our captain, Sam, was fun and very experienced. I will never forget seeing so many whales, and up so close! Highly recommend.

We went whale watching with a bigger operation and had a good time, but we saw The Magic Merman out in the water and liked the idea of a smaller, more nimble pontoon boat — they were closer to the whales and everyone on board looked like they were having a lot of fun. When we saw that they departed from Kaanapali Beach (no early morning drive to the marina with the endless search for parking!), we all decided to go out with them. That was a really, really good decision. Captain Sammie and Lauren were AWESOME! So much fun while also being professional and customer-oriented. Easy to get on and off, and we had a great trip and saw so many whales, one of which was right next to the boat. If I had stayed in Maui longer I would have gone out with them again. Check the website for discounted tickets. I highly recommend The Magic Merman! One negative: no toilet. You'll be out for 2 hours — plan accordingly ;)

We love being the smaller boat on Kaanapali Beach. We never want to be overcrowded and our boat is lower to the water, faster, and more personal than the other options on the beach. AND, WE DO HAVE A TOILET! I will make sure the captain and crew mention that on our tours. The whales are incredible, but holding it for too hours is not.
