Guaranteed Sightings! 7 Seas Whale Watch is located in the heart of historic downtown Gloucester, MA and in one of the busiest parts of Gloucester harbor. As soon as you board the Privateer you will be surrounded by the sights and sounds of Gloucester’s working waterfront. You may see fishing boats unloading fish, lobster men baiting and setting their traps, and perhaps even some of our indigenous wildlife such as Harbor seals, Gray seals, and various species of birds. The tour begins with a harbor tour of Gloucester Harbor starting with Cape Pond Ice (which most of you have seen on Wicked Tuna and ends at the Dog Bar Breakwater. A typical trip is anywhere from 3-4 hours but may be extended if the whales move further out for feed. The Privateer IV was built for 300 passengers but we only book to 150 to ensure the comfort and safety of our passengers and is equipped with restrooms, and on-board food Galley and bar.

We were on the August 16th afternoon whale watch. We had an UNBELIEVABLE time watching Scylla and her calf the whole time. It was amazing. In one video I took in a 6 minute period, her calf breached the water 11 times!!!!! We know you don't always (or hardly ever) get such a close up view of their behaviors, but we sure did on this day. Her calf also decided to come up to the boat and get one side of the watchers very wet!! It was quite humorous and fun. This is our 3rd whale watch through 7 Seas and it's better than any others we have ever been on. Professional staff, great captain, the woman working the concessions on the boat was FANTASTIC and even had a little fun with my son and pineapples!!! Thank you for an unforgettable day! We'll be back!

whale watch was wonderful. we had a great day with two to three humpback whales spending generous time with us right near the boat. and the naturalist and staff were thoroughly knowledgeable and skilled communicators, ensuring that all of us (from kids to seniors) got a lot out of it.

We took our first whale watch with 7 seas last summer so when my sister and nephew came for a visit and said they were interested, I booked right away. The weather was less than stellar; very foggy, misty, choppy water. A lot of passengers were looking a bit green and the crew was fantastic. They were coming through, looking at everyone, offering saltines, making suggestions, offering water and ginger ale. One lady got sick and the crew was very understanding and kind and cleaned everything without making a scene. The crew is so knowledgeable about the animals it's really a great trip. We were able to spend a good 40 minutes if not more following this one particular whale and everyone got some great pictures. I particularly like that 7 seas is a smaller boat and they don't cram it with people. The two times I've gone there has been plenty of room for everyone to sit and stand comfortable and always rail space when it comes time to snap a photo. Can't say enough good things. Can't wait to go back!
