This is the classic whitewater rafting trip experience down the Grand Canyon of the Snake River. It doesn't take all day, but you'll wish it did. The rapids are fun and the calm sections of river let you relax and enjoy the scenery all around you. There are non-paddling and paddling positions in this raft all watched over by an experienced whitewater rafting guide. River Class I-III (easy to moderate).

Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
Please wear shoes that can get wet that will not fall off your feet. An old pair of running shoes or water shoes would be your best option. You must wear footwear in the raft, so we do have booties available for rent if you do not have footwear. Sizes run 2 – 15 and can be rented upon arrival for $5.00 per pair.
Please wear synthetic clothing if possible and bring layers. Synthetics are best for the river because they dry faster than cotton. A bathing suit underneath shorts and a t-shirt is fine for a nice, warm, summer day.
Conditions can be variable; you may experience a cold day on the river. (Not to worry, it will still be a lot of fun. You just have to dress appropriately!)
We have wet suits & wet suit jackets available for rent. Wet suits are $10.00 to rent. Wet suit jackets are $5.00 to rent.
Splash gear is complimentary. On a cold day, you’ll want a bathing suit to wear under the wet suit.
Bring a change of dry clothes and a towel!
Sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat are highly recommended.
Gratuity not included.
Please note: kids must weigh at least 50 pounds or more to go rafting!

I highly recommend the adrenaline filled rush of the 8-mile whitewater experience with Dave Hansen's group. It was an absolute thrill for everyone in my party of five. We went early in the morning, and I'de recommend a wet suite if you opt for that time. Our guide, Nolan, was grand fun and clearly skilled. The only thing I wish was that it was longer.

This was the first time whitewater rafting for the three of us in our group (my wife, father-in-law, and myself). We arrived 30 minutes early, as instructed, and were immediately checked-in and offered wetsuits by the Mad River staff. Then we boarded the shuttle bus to our launch location. En route, our bus driver Darla pointed out some local wildlife. We saw some swans, a bald eagle and nest, some beaver dams, and multiple osprey nests. When we arrived at our launch point, river guide Ryan gave us a brief introduction and briefing and we were then fitted for floatation devices, splash gear, and given paddles. Then we launched into the beautiful Snake River. Our river guide, Nate, was awesome. He gave us a full safety briefing, got us paddling, and then steered us toward our first set of rapids. The river was high, so the tour was really moving, and we navigated multiple sets of rapids, getting soaked and having an awesome time in the process. The scenery was amazing, the ride fun and exciting, and most importantly, I felt completely confident in our safety the entire trip. Mad River has us hooked on whitewater, and we will be rebooking with them when we return to Jackson in the fall. A+++++

Nate was our guide on our whitewater rafting trip. The Snake river at 21K cfs was a wild and crazy ride with class 4 rapids. The Lunch-counter rapid ate our group lunch, the 18’ raft “dumped” three riders from another raft into the river. Nate and our kayaker located everyone and pulled them into our raft before we reached the next rapids. I got more excitement than I bargained for and I cannot say enough about the professionalism and frankly, HEROISM, of Nate. Mad River Boat Trips is a Class Act that provided pre-ride instruction that was critical, and also provided wet-suits and HELMETS. I would highly recommend Mad River for your raft trip.
