Very good introduction to the Gaslamp district. Emily was very nice and tried to keep everybody engaged. She could have provided lots of more information about the history of the area. Not her fault, she did not have a microphone, so we missed many things with twelve people on the walking tour. The Greek and Irish places were excellent, the pizza place awful and the microscopic sweet from the French pastry shop useless.
We've taken a number of these type of tours and this was by far the worst. All these glowing ratings must have been in the past. The tour guide didn't know anything that was past whatever flyer they gave her to do this job and couldn't answer the simplest of questions. No, Horton didn't bring the houses over intact, they were erected once they got to San Diego and while it wasn't part of the tour, Balboa Park, one of San Diego's most visited places, is named after Vasco Núñez de Balboa. If I heard her say I don't know one more time I was just going to walk away.
Skip this tour and take one from a company that actually trains its tour guides.
