Our family travels a lot. We like taking private tours in many parts of the world because we believe it adds a flavor of local culture to the common tourist spots. In Charleston, we were so very lucky to find Eric and book a 2.5hr tour with his company Charleston History Walk. There is no better way I could imagine to spend the time getting familiar with this city than being with the guy who is a professor at the Citadel and his PhD dissertation was related to the area. The tour was a great mix of the city's history, state history, architecture, and just general historical factoids. I wish every city had an Eric available.

If you are looking for a great history tour in Charleston - look no further, seriously! Dr. Lager was so wonderful and so informative. I took my dad who was visiting out of town on the tour and we were captivated by all the information. Dr. Lager is so down to earth and makes everything so easy and fun to learn about. He had our attention the whole time and we were so sad when it was over! He answered all of our questions and brought humor that we thoroughly enjoyed.

As a former teacher of U.S. History, I can say that Dr. Lager presents a factual and fun tour of historic Charleston. Even if you’ve been on other tours in Charleston, dot miss this one. Definitely the best.
