We had Steve as a guide. Was very friendly and certainly knew the history of Charleston. You could tell that he was a native and proud of his city as it came out in his enthusiasm. This was a perfect size group (10) for this type tour. They only allow maximum of 13. It started in a convenient location. In fact, we found metered parking right beside the meeting place that allowed for 4 hours. All around, a great tour and guide.

Although the tour guide and the stories were excellent, the title of this tour is a sham. We saw very few alleys and no hidden passages. We spent the first 30 minutes in a basic history lesson of Charleston, looking at the harbor, looking at fountains, hearing stories of ex-slaves. We finally saw one alley and spent the next 30 minutes looking at houses and churches. Totally misleading. A few more alleys finally were thrown in and they all looked alike. Hidden passages??? None! Complete bait and switch and not worth your time.

Thank you for your kind words about the tour guide. We are happy that you enjoyed the guide and the stories. Charleston's alleyways are fortunately located within the well-known areas of the French Quarter and "South of Broad" which allows us to include some popular points of interest as well. In addition, the alleyways and passages are not all located right next to each other, so there will be lots to talk about in between. Generally, we include between four to six different alleyways/passages as well as popular points of interest and of course, tons of history! While it seems as if you enjoyed the guide and stories, we regret that you felt the title of the tour was misleading.
