This was such a fun way to see Miami! We started on the double decker bus, and our tour guide was great! The views were spectacular. Be prepared to have to duck for palm trees and electrical wires. My husband got honked pretty hard by a tree branch because he was taking a picture off to the side, and was not paying attention. We went on a freeway, at freeway speeds. I now know how motorcyclists feel, with bugs flying in your face. But it was all part of the experience, right? We saw where Versace was killed, Al Capone’s office and Venus and Serena Williams house.
Little Havana was so much fun, and we should have had 90 minutes there, so we could have eaten lunch there. We stopped at a cigar factory, and met the 92 year old owner out front, smoking a stogie. We went to the visitor center for a shot of coffee. Agreed that both of these stops were just so that you could buy things. The restaurant was horrible, do not here here. There are other options at the mall. Offered one bowl of chips and jarred salsa. Waitress was exceptionally rude, and obviously did not want to be there. No water refills, never checked on us. Food came very late after we ordered. Someone else brought our food, and had only three entrees for the four of us. He asked me what I ordered, and he brought me a chicken sandwich, which he brought right away. Waitress came by and scolded me telling me she thought my daughter and I were going to share a meal, when we specifically each ordered a meal. Asked for mayo for my chicken sandwich, she brought a squeeze bottle with about a tablespoon of mayo in it. I passed on that, as the bottle was room temperature. The $8 frozen drinks tasted as if there was no alcohol in them. We were allowed one hour for lunch. We were the last to board the boat, and almost did not make the tour. Restaurant added 18% tip to the bill. Service / food mediocre at best, and food was pricey for their very limited menu. The tour guide told us they had a special menu for tour guests. There was nothing special about it. We were enticed by the great view and convenience to boat, but Chili’s was right above. The boat tour was great despite the fact that at certain points the rain poured. There was not enough dry space for the people on the boat. We saw some beautiful yachts and mansions. It was a fun tour and highly recommended. Both bus and boat guides were very pushy about tips. “This is how we make our living”. Well deserved, and we tipped well, but very pushy. I wish we would have had more time to shop at the mall, after the boat ride. We would take this tour again!
