This trip is solely focused on seeing dolphins. That you will see a lot of. The crew spends all their time cycling through all the people in 2’s to see the dolphins in their “underwater windows” and there is no time for spending time looking for whales. If you want dolphins and possibly by luck see one whale, maybe, then this is your trip. If you want to see whales go on a different tour.

Thank you so much for your review! Here at Capt. Dave’s Dolphin & Whale Watching Safari, as is suggested by our name, we strive to show our guests as much of Dana Point’s year-round wildlife as we can. We never limit sightings on our trips to one type or another. However, nature is unpredictable and we cannot guarantee what we will see each time. So each trip is different and special – and your trip was fortunate to encounter 750 Common Dolphins! We hold dolphins (which are toothed whales and include species such as orcas and pilot whales) in as high a regard as baleen whales. We are also the only company to feature the unique Underwater Viewing Pods, which give passengers an amazing eye-to-eye perspective on the wildlife. We definitely spend some, but not all, of the trip time so that whoever wants to enjoy the Pods may do so. I’m so sorry that your recent safari wasn’t what you were expecting. I hope you will consider joining us again, as we’d love a second chance to also show you the whales you were hoping to see!
