Experience the thrill of riding in one of Alaska's oldest modes of transportation! The dogsled! Towns, villages and lifestyles were created using the traditional style dogs that you will meet while on your tour. Learn of the rich history of Chatanika from one of our guides while travelling through a beautiful boreal forest.
We only have 2 tour slots a day to give each group ample time. This is a small family run business and you will be greeted and guided by an owner the entire time here. We do accomidate families/large groups & single travelers! For group size requests over 6 guests please contact Howling Bay Kennel direct through their website.
Our weight limit per guest is 250lbs clothed. If you exceed the weight limit, but meet the physical requirements and can comfortably participate, we may be able to accomidate you as a single rider for a double booking fee. We had a great experience. Everyone in our family got a turn to ride and stand in the back to 'help' drive. We had a ton of time plus we got to feed the dogs frozen salmon and they gave us a ton of local tips including camera settings for the northern lights.

The dog sledding was the most amazing. Kevin and Tabitha were very friendly and had explained all in details and very much informative. They made us feel very welcomed and comfortable with all the dogs. We also did the northern lights. It was amazing. I definitely recommend Howling bay kennels. And also I don’t do reviews unless that I am very satisfied which is I am totally.

Even though the trip should be at least 1,5 hours according to a description, it took ~30 minutes. The trail doesn’t have any views. Just a trail in the forest where the only thing you see are the trees. Definitely NOT worth of that money.

Sorry you feel that way. We do clearly say the sled ride itself is approx 45 min. The rest of the time is for pictures, petting dogs and hotchocolate. Since you do feel this way I would actually like to make it right with and talk about a refund please contact me directly at 9073473600
