I can only speak for myself when I say this trip only gets two stars because we made it to Zion in one piece and I got to see it.
To start, the tour place did not send me the right time to meet my pick up. It texted me saying 6:40am, but the drive called me telling me it was 6:15am. Okay, only 25 minutes difference but not a good start.
Second, the transportation was just this guys car. It was like an expensive Uber driver. The “snacks” were just a belvita biscuit and a banana. The “unlimited water” was like a 24 pack of bottles.
The driver was fine enough, but he was speeding, swerving, passing on one ways, and generally not being too safe while driving. Once we made it to Zion, he took us to one pull away (rushing us by the way) and then turned around and took us to the visitor center. He instructed us that we only had two hours from getting on the bus and then we had to come back. Two hours. If you’ve been to Zion, you know you can’t do much in two hours. There was no photo opps other than what we did ourselves.
After that, lunch wasn’t even paid for and we had no choice of where to go. He didn’t ask if we wanted coffee, or snacks, or anything. He would not stop for us. We basically were forced to go to Subway of all things and he just gave us each 10 dollars, which you know can’t really buy anything there anymore unfortunately. He basically rushed us in shopping for souvenirs and told us not to “dilly dally.”
Again, a pleasant enough guy, but I feel like the wool was pulled over my eyes about the experience. He didn’t guide us anywhere. He just dropped us off and told us to hurry. I didn’t even want to tip the guy but I guess I did for the gas and the wear and tear on the car.
