The train can accommodate a motorized scooter if it is no wider than 25 inches. There is a special lift to lift the scooter onto the train.

On our visit to the Grand Canyon, we decided to not drive all the way from Scottsdale, and stop and Williams to take this train experience to the Grand Canyon. And a great experience it was. Our kids (11 + 14 year old boys) really loved the experience and played along really well with the characters. Cafe car offered a good amount of snacks and reasonable prices. Dennis, our conductor, was a really sweet man and a pleasure to meet and talk with. The train ride leaves you with about 3 1/2 hours at the Grand Canyon, which is enough to explore the southern rim. The trip may add about an hour each way to the Grand Canyon vs. a car, but it is worth it.

We had never visited the Grand Canyon before and decided to take the train so that we could both relax and take in the scenery. It was a great decision, we absolutely loved the train. Before boarding, there is an old west show with cowboys and horses which sets the tone for the day. This is a throwback to a simpler, gentler time. We booked the parlor car because it is adults only and has the outdoor viewing platform. From the moment you board, the experience is such fun. There is a light buffet with pastries and doughnuts with coffee, juice and water plus a bar for water and soda included as well as adult beverages for purchase. Our Passenger Service Attendant was Teryl who is a gifted storyteller and will share many legends of the canyon, she makes history come alive with her way with words. It was fascinating to hear her share her knowledge and then visit the sites she's mentioned while walking around the canyon village. On the way back, you are greeted with a champagne toast, more light hors d'oeuvres and even more stories. There are also musicians who stroll through the cars and visits from the sheriff. There is even a train robbery. It all adds up to a great time of old fashioned Americana fun. We had a wonderful day and enjoyed meeting Teryl, she is a genuinely nice person who shares her love of the train and the canyon with her guests.

We booked this trip and it did not disappoint. To thee Grand Canyon we booked the scenic upper deck car. Great views comfortable seating all around perfect. On the return we had the luxury upper deck car. We loved it it was a fun time , it was adults only, drinks were served along with a champagne toast. Our train was robbed by outlaws on the way back, so, make sure you carry cash!. Would take this trip again. Noel was out car steward on the way back, she was excellent, friendly and entertaining.
