For those who prefer to just go cruising down the slopes and switchbacks of the volcano, our Haleakala Express tour is the best bet. Guests begin their bike ride at 6,500 ft. elevation just outside of the national park entrance and ride 15 miles to the North Shore town of Haiku.

• Not be pregnant
• Not weigh over 270 lbs.
• Wear closed-toe shoes

Really enjoyed this tour. Our guides (Levant & Jackie) were so knowledgeable on the ecosystem of Hawaii/Maui and made sure we felt confortable before starting the bike ride.

Bikes were safe and reliable in the rain. My son and I arrived before 9am as instructed the day before. The clerk said we’re early and will leave at 9:30. So we got breakfast. She then called at 9:10 saying they’re leaving and hung up. After rushing back the owner did a great job smoothing things out for my 21 year old son and me. He was a pleasant, informative, entertaining & accommodating guide on the van ride up. He can’t control the light rain and clouds that impeded our sight and comfort (suggest waterproof pants jackets) but we got a couple of nice photos at breaks in the weather, stayed safe sharing the road with vehicles and had fun. I suggest looking at the weather forecast and if your schedule is flexible only book when the roads are dry and there’s no rain.

Bike Maui provides nice bikes with good suspension and excellent brakes. The entire ride up the mountain is one big long briefing with directions and tips for riding down the mountain. Anyone with intermediate bike experience and common sense should be fine on the ride, and you only have to pedal in a few places, so you don't need to be in shape either.
